PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT LOKAL DI PICTNIQLAND GUNUNG KIDUL YOGYAKARTA MELALUI PROGRAM PELATIHAN KEWIRAUSAHAAN
Abstract
Community empowerment is a crucial approach in ensuring that tourism development provides tangible socio-economic benefits for local communities. PictniqLand Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, as a developing tourism destination, offers various economic opportunities that can be utilized by surrounding communities. However, limited entrepreneurial knowledge and business management skills have constrained local participation in tourism-related economic activities. This community service program was implemented through a community empowerment approach within the framework of Field Work Practice (KKL), focusing on entrepreneurship training for local residents around PictniqLand Gunung Kidul. The program employed a participatory and educational method, beginning with field observation and needs assessment, followed by entrepreneurship training sessions covering basic entrepreneurial concepts, small business management, and simple marketing strategies aligned with local tourism potential. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of entrepreneurship and increased awareness of tourism-based business opportunities. Community participation during the training process reflected a positive shift in mindset toward economic self-reliance. Nevertheless, the program also revealed that short-term training alone is insufficient to generate immediate economic transformation. Continuous mentoring and multi-stakeholder collaboration are required to ensure sustainable community empowerment.
